Sleeves, Necklines, Collars, and Dress Types

hangbird:

I was asked to do one for clothing, but I don’t know how to do one for clothes in general so I tried to give some general tips. It relies heavily on the details of the skin ones, so I’m sorry again if this isn’t helpful. THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL ON HOW CLOTHING, FOLDS, AND SO ON WORK, this is just how I personally color.

Webcomicking Advice

chirart:

I get a lot of people asking me for advice, online and offline, about how to go about starting a comic—especially a webcomic.

Over many rehashings of the same key points, I have finally condensed my advice to ten points:

  1. Just do it.

  2. No, really. Just do it.

  3. But it’s haaaa-NO, JUST DO IT.

  4. But what if it su—SHHHH.

  5. But what i—JUST.

  6. But—SHUT.

  7. JUST.

  8. DO.

  9. IT.

  10. There you go.

The hard truth is, you’re the beginning and end of your comic. It starts when you work on it and it ends when you decide to stop working on it. There’s no magical escape from this fact.

But for what it’s worth, you can do it if you really believe in what you’re doing, as cliche as it sounds.

Hey guys! Sorry its been so inactive around here. I’m slowly but surely getting finished with my finals.
Anyway, I found this and thought I had to share. The way body language can tell how a person is really feeling is something that I consider very interesting. I think it would be a great way to show, in a subtle way, how a character is really feeing.
Hope its useful! And good luck with finals! Hopefully, this place will be a bit more active once summer kicks in.

I find that, when writing bios, it’s really helpful to look at a list or a chart like the one above. Picking two or three traits from each chart and building a character based around them will give you a really interesting bio, because they will serve as a reminder that characters need depth and dimension.

Independent and clever.

VS.

Independent, clever, pretentious, and stubborn.

The first combination doesn’t come with any flaws, whereas the second will provide a more dynamic character.

A big ol’ tip on drawing cities from street-level. Sorry for the crude drawings, but I think they get the point across :)
Enjoy!

1-point/2-point perspective was taught in my high school by drawing city streets the same as in example #1.
I quickly realized when studying reference images that REAL LIFE DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.

Tutorial: Hands while kissing - by Auroracarina-Chan on DeviantArt

Since the tutorial is marked as “mature”, you cannot use the share-function to post it all on tumblr (srsly, I understand why ppl don’t wanna mark their work as mature… it limit your work to be seen a bit too much in some cases).

The reason why this tutorial is marked as mature is… I THINK it’s because you see some nipples, but it’s a ridiculous reason to make it unable to post on tumblr (dA has a share function where you can post art from dA with proper source and everything.)

Anyway, I took some screenshots from the tutorial, so you guys can see it without having to be a member on dA.

And here’s a screenshot that couldn’t get into the photoset:
